About Me

So you want to know about me huh? Ok well here goes...

I just finished my Bachelor of Information Technology degree at Victoria Univeristy, going out in style with a bunch of A's :)

I live in Wellington, New Zealand, currently living in Te Aro. I've always been a pretty technically minded person, and have lived on the Internet since about 1994. Yes I remember NCSA Mosaic and Gopher!

I'm currently 23, and gradually working myself towards some sort of career in the ISP sector I think. I am currently working as a software developer at Catalyst IT.

I'm quite heavily into the open source software thing, probably fueled by a distaste for Microsoft and their tromping-on-people tactics. I'm just starting to get into actually developing open source stuff myself. I've submitted a few core patches to the TYPO3 devs and also written a widely-used virtual filesystem for the jEdit editor for editing TYPO3 configuration. I'm also working on some projects to do with Xen clustering, wifi timeslotting (like Frottle, but decentralised) and mobile car media systems.

Outside of the computer world, I do have a bit of a life. I'm quite heavily into music (lots of electronic stuff [trance, d&b, eurodance] and certain kinds of rock... But quite tolerant and flexible really), also I like to watch lots of movies. I'm also into cars a bit, as you might guess from my need to have a computer in mine.... And I like to go on roadtrips, and holiday stuff generally. In the winter, I like to go skiing (maybe be a snowboarder one day), so I have a life pass to the Ruapehu ski fields, courtesy of Christmas some years ago. I like to do a bit of mountain biking in the weekends, and I go to the gym regularly. Generally looking after myself! I happen to be a long-running vegetarian too, but if you ask me why I'll likely have to make up a reason on the spot...

I don't really know what else to write.. People tend to get to know me by talking to me! If you want to, just head over to the contact page and feel free to get in touch!

Who says you can't text on a trampoline?
